David King - 2021
Awarded this 12th day of March, 2021
This honor is extended as the department’s highest achievements ward for contributions to the development of the fire service in Campbell County. The Walk of Fame exemplifies the attributes of a firefighter who unselfishly gives their time and talents to the community.
The Campbell County Fire Department proudly bestows on David King, its 2021 Walk of Fame Award. David has been an active member of Campbell County Fire Department, “officially” since 1995. Before becoming a sworn member, David was working at the local radio station as a reporter and was active visiting the station, becoming well known. During his tenure at CCFD, David was an active member of the Haz-Mat team, President of Battalion 1 Volunteer Association, Firefighter and Engineer for the Station 1 County Crew.
David King continued his passion and dedication for helping others as he became the Emergency Management Coordinator for Campbell County, where he still serves the position. Even in this position, he continues to assist the Department in numerous ways including the Mobile Command Unit, large scale and mass casualty drills, moulage, grant funding, communications, wildfire mitigation and much more. In his years, he was one of the few that “always” showed up during his on-call rotations. That was his minimum and continued to be active regardless of the emergency type or location. He always finds a way to contribute to Campbell County Fire Department. David retired in 2020, and his absence has been noticed and his presence missed.
David King is hereby awarded the Campbell County Fire Department Walk of Fame award in recognition of his unwavering support and more than 25 years of support. David embodies a true calling to protect and serve his community. His actions serve as an example to the Department and Community, and for these reasons, he is receiving the Department’s highest honor.
