How can I report a fire or other emergency?

Dial 9-1-1! Please do not attempt to call the fire department directly as all emergency dispatching in Campbell County is coordinated by the Campbell County Emergency Dispatch or the City of Gillette's Dispatch Center.

How can I obtain a Burn Permit?

Prior to conducting the burn, please call the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) at (307) 673-9337 AND the Campbell County Sheriff's Dispatch Office at (307) 682-7271. You will be asked to provide your name, location of burning site, phone number, and the material(s) being burned. The County Commissioners may impose burn restrictions due to hazardous conditions.

What are the regulations for barbecue grills and outdoor fireplaces?

Contact Fire Station 1 at (307) 682-5319 and ask for Fire Marshal Stuart Burnham or Fire Inspector Christopher Prager. There are many different variables and situations in which different codes and regulations might apply. In general, though, outdoor fire pits are permitted inside the city limits with the following considerations:

  • They MUST have spark arrestors (covers)

  • They must be a safe distance from structures and combustible materials

  • Make sure to have water nearby 

  • Be sure to fully extinguish and cover them when unattended 

  • Only burn natural wood (no yard waste, lacquered wood, or miscellaneous items)

Where can I get my fire extinguisher serviced?

The Campbell County Fire Department does not offer these services.
