2024 Seasonal Firefighter
The Campbell County Fire Department (CCFD) is currently accepting applications and resumes for the position of Seasonal Firefighter. This hiring is for our seasonal wildland fire program and is scheduled for 15 weeks of work starting May 20th, 2024, with the opportunity to extend if the wildland season permits.
CCFD will hire up to 12 firefighters, including two Engine Bosses and two Lead Crew Members. Firefighters will then be split into three crews. Each crew will be assigned to a Type VI or Type IV apparatus. Firefighters will be expected to perform wildland fire suppression duties to include wildland fire response within Campbell County, mutual aid response in Wyoming, and dispatch support for Federal wildland fires outside of Wyoming. This may include spraying water from engines, digging handline, firing operations, mop-up operations, and extensive amounts of hiking and physical labor. When not assigned to suppression duties, firefighters will be assigned project-type work within the County.
The CCFD is an all-hazards organization responsible for 4,807 square miles and approximately 50,000 citizens. We respond to all fires, hazardous materials, technical rescue, and life-threatening emergency medical incidents. In 2023 the CCFD responded to over 2,800 incident requests for service. Wildland firefighters need to be available for dispatching to fires outside of the county. In 2022, wildland firefighters spent over 30 days outside the county on assignment.
Pay and Benefits
Hourly Rate- $15.00-$16.50 (depending on experience)
Wildland firefighters are paid portal-to-portal for all incidents in County
Housing will be available at no cost, if desired
Training opportunities will be available for further certification
Employment is full-time seasonal and is not a full-time career position.
Requirements
Must be 18 years of Age or Older with High School Diploma or GED
Valid Driving License/ U.S Citizen
Preferred Certifications
NWCG Firefighter Type II
NWCG Firefighter Type I
Class B Commercial Driver’s License

Applicants who are not qualified as a wildland firefighter will have the opportunity to attend Basic Wildland Firefighting School at Campbell County Fire Department from April 19-21, 2024, if hired as a Seasonal Wildland Firefighter. This coursework is unpaid.
