2022-Seasonal Engine Boss
The Campbell County Fire Department (CCFD) currently is accepting applications and resumes for the position of Seasonal Engine Boss. This hiring is for our seasonal wildland fire program and is scheduled for 16 weeks of work starting May 30th, 2021 with the opportunity to extend if wildland season permits.
CCFD will hire up to 12 firefighters including two Engine Bosses and two Lead Crew Members. Firefighters will then be split into two crews. Each crew will be assigned to a Type VI or Type IV apparatus. Engine Bosses will be expected to assist in preparation for the season, supervising an Engine Crew, dispatching to federal and regional incidents, and assisting with operations related to wildland fire suppression. When not assigned to suppression activities, seasonal staff will be assigned to project type work within the County.
The CCFD is an all-hazards organization that is responsible for 4,807 square miles and approximately 50,000 citizens. We respond to all fires, hazardous materials, technical rescue, and life-threatening emergency medical incidents. In 2021 the CCFD responded to over 2400 incident requests for service; this includes 146 wildland fires. Wildland firefighters are also be available for dispatching to fires outside of the county. In 2021 wildland firefighters spent over 30 days outside of county on assignment.
Pay and Benefits
Hourly Rate- $18.00
Wildland firefighters are paid portal-to-portal for all incidents in County
Housing will be available at no cost to the Engine Boss if desired
Training opportunities will be available for further certification
In 2021 Seasonal Firefighters who worked the full season averaged over 400 hours of overtime. Employment is full-time seasonal and is not a full-time career position

Single Resource Qualified as ENGB
Incident Commander Type V
Intermediate or Advanced Faller
Valid Driving License
Preferred Certifications
Incident Commander Type IV
Strike Team Engine or Task Force Leader-Trainee
Class B Commercial Driver’s License
